LEGION MASTERS ROWING REGATTA

27th APRIL 2019

CONDITIONS

  1. Generally: The Regatta shall be conducted strictly in accordance with the NZRA Rules of Racing 2018 (Rule 6.1). The regatta shall be governed by applicable Articles of the Constitution of the New Zealand Rowing Association Inc. Further: this regatta shall be conducted in strict accordance with the Rowing NZ Water Safety Code and the Rowing New Zealand Competition Safety Code (Rule 6.2), The Karapiro Rowing Inc. Safety Plan, of which the contents and intent take precedent over all other documents.
  2. Regatta Entry is via Rowit.nz and closed on the 22nd of April 2019
  3. Registration: All rowers and coxswains must register with the Regatta Secretary before the start of Event 1 (9am) at the regatta Venue. This may be done via the Legion Website prior to the Regatta or on the day at the Registration Desk.
    • Non-Legion Member Rower’s registration is $45 per Rower,
    • Legion Members Rower’s registration is $25 per Rower.
    • Where a person participates as a coxswain, and does not row, registration is free.
    • All Rowers and Coxswains will be issued with an armband. Rowers without an armband will not be allowed to row.
  4. Masters’ Classification: The age of a rower in a masters rowing event shall be that of 31/12/2019. The crew age categories are:
    • Minimum age: 27 years
    • Average age: 36 years or more
    • Average age: 43 years or more
    • Average age: 50 years or more
    • Average age: 55 years or more
    • Average age: 60 years or more
    • Average age: 65 years or more
    • Average age: 70 years or more
    • Average age: 75 years or more
    • Average age: 80 years or more
    • Average age: 85 years or more
    • Age categories do not apply to coxswains of master’s crews.

Each competitor shall be responsible for his/her own health and fitness.
Every rower must be able to prove his/her age by presentation of an official document (Driver’s License, etc.).
The age category of a Masters crew may be calculated by the average age of the crew.

  1. Novice Classification:
    1. A “Novice Masters Rower” is a rower who has not rowed a race prior to 1 September 2018
    2. For a Crew to be classified as Novice, two of the rowers must meet the Novice master criteria.
  2. Corporate Classification: A Corporate rower is a rower of any status. The majority of the rowers in a corporate crew must be employees of the Corporate. All members of a corporate crew must wear the same corporate uniform. Gender requirements of corporate events must be observed.
  3. School Parent Classification: A School Parent rower is a rower of any status. All rowers in this classification must have had a child attend the school they are representing. Rowers may be Novice or Experienced Masters. Equal number of men and women will be in each crew. Multiple crews from each school may be entered. Requirements of School Parent events must be observed
  4. Open Classification: For an open event – age groupings do not apply.
  5. Composite Crews: Members from different Clubs may make up a crew and mixed crews may wear their own Club colours.
  6. Mixed Crews Events: A crew participating in a mixed event must be made up of an equal number of Male & Female members.
  7. Coxswains: Coxswains MUST wear fitted non-inflatable life jackets. The minimum weight for coxswains is 55 kgs.
    • All coxswains must weigh in before their first race.
    • Coxswains may be of either gender. There is no age classification for coxswains
  8. Races: Depending on the level of entries for an event. Events may be combined into a single race.
    • Each crew is required to carry an identifying bow number. Numbers will be provided by the organisers.
  9. All designated coxed novice quad, four-oared & all eight-oared boats MUST carry a coxswain.
  10. Late entries will not be accepted.
  11. Any crew changes due to medical issues must have been made at least 1 hr prior to the start of that event and must be the same gender and age (or older).
  12. Course Description: All races will be 1000 metres in length. All races will be held in a buoyed 7 wire, 6 lane, straight course with an aligned start. The water for all intents and purposes is to be considered as still and without flow. Lane 1 shall be closest to the Judges Tower.

“Exclusion of all tort liability of whatsoever kind” “The Legion of Rowers (Auckland) Inc. reminds Rowing Clubs and rowers participating in the Masters & Corporate Rowing Regatta that while every care will be taken by the Regatta Officials to ensure that the Regatta is conducted safely and efficiently and in accordance with the rules of racing established by the New Zealand Rowing Association Inc. and/ or amended by the Legion of Rowers Auckland Inc. it is the responsibility of the Clubs to ensure that rules are complied with and of Rowers to comply with them to ensure safe Rowing activity”.

Further, it is a condition of participation in this Regatta that all participants accept and note that no liability either in tort of any other nature whatsoever is accepted by or will attach to the New Zealand Rowing Association, Karapiro Rowing Incorporated, Waikato Rowing Assoc. or the Legion of Rowers Auckland Inc. for any harm, damage, loss, costs, expenses, inconvenience, interference of whatever nature and whatever kind including any damage to equipment or injury to persons of whatever nature incurred in the course of or in connection with in any way related to the Regatta regardless of whether any error or omission, wrong doing, oversight, negligence or other tort whatsoever on the part of an Regatta official or other person may be established.”
